Celebrating America’s Independence

On this day in 1776 the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress. The declaration itself let Great Britain know that the American colonies were tired of being ruled by them and that America wanted to become its own country.

Americans felt the need to fight for their independence from Great Britain because they were forced to be taxed by the British for tea and had to allow British soldiers to stay in their homes. This is what spurred the Revolutionary War, which started in 1775.

Although the Declaration of Independence was approved by Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776 the war continued until we finally defeated Great Britain in 1783.

Sadly America today embraces a lot of the ideologies our forefathers fought against. We once fought against a $0.03 per/pound tax on tea but today an $0.18 tax per gallon of fuel is acceptable. We send our money to other countries before we take care of our own. This is done under the guise of humanitarianism but any intelligent person knows it is politically motivated.

So while we spend this July 4th celebrating the freedoms that 25k – 70k men of our country died for, remember what we’re celebrating and don’t let their sacrifices go in vain.

My Opinion on the Recent Supreme Court Ruling on Roe v. Wade

DISCLAIMER
Although this will come across as such, this is not a political post. Must read to the end to fully understand.

It’s crazy how a month ago everyone was heartbroken over innocent children being murdered at a school yet today they’re outraged they don’t have the choice to murder children themselves.

They go on to make arguments for having the right to choose what they do with their own bodies yet last year were complicit in persecuting those who made a personal choice to not get vaccinated.

They make arguments against “outdated” gun laws because we no longer have muskets yet don’t follow that same logic when it comes to what we know now vs fifty years ago scientifically about a fetus.

The hypocrisy is complete lunacy and lacks any logic. It takes any credibility they think they have on the topic and flushes it down the toilet.

People that know me know that I identify as conservative and are surprised when I take the pro-choice side of abortion. Prior to the pandemic I would tell them that it would be hypocritical of me not to be pro-choice when I believe in capital punishment. And now post-pandemic it would be even more hypocritical since I believe I should be able to choose what I do with my body.

I honestly don’t see how anyone could take me seriously if I said one was okay but not the other yet that’s is exactly what the majority of people are doing.

I’m not making an argument here for or against the ruling. This is not a politically charged post. It doesn’t matter which side of the political isle you’re on.

What I am doing is making an argument for being congruent. Look behind why you believe what you believe and make sure you hold yourself to those standards consistently.

If you truly believe “my body my choice” then believe that in all facets and not just abortion or the vaccine. If laws should change because times have changed when it comes to guns, don’t flip on that when it comes to science. It’s okay to change your opinion once you’ve learned more about something, but take that same logic and apply it to your other opinions to see if they’ve changed as well.

Love it or hate it but no one respects someone who is inconsistent in their beliefs.

Be congruent
Be consistent
(Yes, I know they’re synonyms but I’m going for the dramatic finish)

So…

Be congruent
Be consistent
Use logic over emotion to validate your opinions
Be true to yourself
Become respected

My Thoughts on Media Bias and it’s Role in Influencing Peoples Perceptions

In today’s day and age the media is constantly pushing their own narrative. Most of the time that narrative is being pushed to them by politics. Sometimes it can come across very subtly, while other times it can be extremely obvious. One thing I always like to do is question the motive behind the narrative being pushed.

I saw an article today titled “Tesla crashes into home after driver attempts to put it in reverse”. I am a Tesla owner myself so I know some of the myths and misconceptions that people have about Teslas compared to their reality.

Contrary to popular belief, there is not a major learning curve when driving a Tesla. For me the hardest part to get use to was not turning the car on or off when getting in or out of the vehicle. Yes, with auto steer and auto pilot, FSD, there are some additional technology features that may take some getting used to. However, it is still just an automobile and can be controlled completely by the human driver.

That being said, it’s pretty apparent to me that this incident is the responsibility of the driver and not the vehicle. So that really begs the question why was Tesla used in the title of the article? Cars crash into houses all the time yet their makes or model are not typically listed in the headlines. So why Tesla?

Elon Musk is a very polarizing figure. Some say he’s the real life version of Iron Man. But recently he has gained many critics, especially those on the political left. He has gone as far as to say that he would be voting Republican for the first time in his life because of how crazy Democrats currently are.

Of course this has spurred outrage from those on the political left. And it’s not surprising that those on the left that hold office or not his biggest fans. When discussing energy efficiency and electric vehicles the White House completely overlooked Tesla. NASDAQ recently dropped Tesla from their energy shares. And around the same time that Elon made his statements regarding politics he was hit with a sexual assault claim.

It’s pretty obvious here, to me at least, that politics are playing a part in the bias it is trying to create against Tesla and a Musk. The tactics being used are very similar to how when the media reports a crime they include the race of the victim only if the victim is a minority. Or, if the person committing the crime is white.

So why does the media do this? Well, it makes sense from the race perspective that they do it to help perpetuate the narrative of racism in America. If everyone believed that there was no racism in America then politicians couldn’t pander for those votes.

So why Tesla? Well I think it’s pretty apparent that Musk is upsetting those on the left. With his initial offer to purchase Twitter and save freedom of speech their reactions and response confirmed everyones theories that Twitter had been censoring those on the right unjustifiably. This is seen as a threat to politicians who are constantly trying to control the narrative to pander to their voting base.

In the end I believe it’s everyone’s individual responsibility to do their own research and investigating when it comes to the topics that matter to them without taking anything the media tells them at face value. In the day where we label everything misinformation or disinformation that is later deemed to be accurate and true, you can’t take anything at face value.
